Lifeguard Missions

There is an opportunity for a short term International or North American missions right here in North Myrtle Beach. It's for visitors or locals, churched or unchurched - it's interaction with lifeguards. YOU can be a missionary, on our beach, by walking up to a lifeguard with a cold drink of water and a snack. Tell the person that YOU are a Christian and are bringing them a cold drink and snack because Jesus said, "...when you do it in my name....it's the same as if you did it for ME..." If you're not brave enough to say words about Jesus, just take a drink and snack! (They love your extra motel goodies, too.) Take the time to THANK them for looking after you and your loved ones. Tell them The Church Lady said to!

During the summer of 2007 we served supper 12 Tuesday nights. Almost 600 meals were served to summer missionaries and Lifeguards. Not all of the guards filled out our survey, but of the ones that did 21 said they were Christian, 5 Catholic, 13 none, 1 Buddhist and 1 agnostic. More than 40 took home a Gideon New Testament.
17 states were represented: Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington, Ohio, South Carolina, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York, Montana, Tennessee, Utah, and Florida.
13 countries were represented: Bulgaria, Belarus, United Kingdom, Scotland, Ukraine, Russia, Czech Republic, Nigeria, Latvia, Puerto Rico, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, and Slovakia.
Thanks to these for "feeding His sheep": Buck Creek Baptist, Aynor Faith Baptist, Wampee Baptist, Jamestown Baptist of Conway, Lakeside Baptist, Living Water Baptist, North Myrtle Beach First Baptist (paper goods and fellowship hall), Faith Hope & Love, Singles, Friends In Christ (2) Sunday School Classes and the NMB Optimist Club.
Thanks to those of you who prayed for the Lifeguards, summer missionaries and the work done by Intracoastal Outreach of the Waccamaw Baptist Association. Much planning is done by Todd Woods and Peter.
Thank you to each one who took a drink or snack to the guards.
Thank you to each who spoke a kind word to the guards.
Thanks to McDonald's and Chick-Fil-A for coupons for free meals for each lifeguard. Thanks to Logan's, Applebee's, and Outback for free food. Thanks to others for discounts.
Thanks to several individuals, to Adult Workers, Kindred Spirits, and Dorcas SS classes for money and to Gerald Smith for helping every week.

The World comes to North Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand each summer.

We'll never know what these young men and women take home from the suppers, but 12 Tuesday nights they were fed in Jesus' name. Surely, they tell others they were fed and loved and enjoyed the fellowship time. Jesus told US to plant the seed and He will take care of the harvest.
